AND SO IT BEGAN…
May 2025 -
After receiving our building warrant, we got to work.
Determined and motivated by caffeine, we spent a few long hours cleaning the space and moving the old gravel away.
We also started preparing the indoor space for the upcoming works, this included removing old radiators, lighting and plasterboard… (we have funky sliding doors arriving soon!!)
BANKSY WHO?
below, is our gorgeous apprentice at work, this girl loves a doodle.
Shame this wall will soon be replaced with our fancy new sliding doors!
PIZZA? YES PLEASE!
This…
To this…
The new paved area will accommodate our Pizzeria container, where we will be serving top quality pizza from a wood fired oven, yum yum!
123 LIFT.. AND JUST LIKE THAT, WE HAVE A PIZZERIA!
We have perfected the position of our soon to be… pizzeria!
the new position of the container allows us to start work in other areas of the courtyard.
Progress…
Whilst taking our wall down to create space for our sliding doors, we found this funky oldish (1990) … pepsi can.
And just like that… we have had our lovely sliding doors fitted.
The large windows allow a lot of lovely natural light in to our cafe space making it bright and spacious.
Take a look at our outside view of our gorgeous doors.
Can you tell that we are in love with them?!
August 2025 -
The courtyard is now undergoing major groundworks to make sure we are able to have running water and pipework in all the right places.
October 2025
Ground work continues steadily, making use of some of our original stone to carefully construct a small, freshly laid wall. This new feature is designed to provide clear definition between the ‘top’ and ‘bottom’ outdoor areas. In addition, once we have thoughtfully added shrubs and trees around the space, the wall will help create a sense of privacy for the larger groups using the garden.
Making the most of a little autumn sunshine, we are carefully painting the steel beam and refreshing some of the exterior masonry. The doors will be neatly edged to ensure a perfect seal, and the drainage will be replaced with sleek black fittings. Soon, our exterior will be looking truly handsome and well-maintained.
January 2026
People, we have some more progress to share.. making hay while the sun shines, after a period of damp frosts and biting cold. Those conditions make many types of building and construction pretty tricky.
HOWEVER! as we await a few major pieces of internal works to allow us to insert our fixtures and fittings, we turned to the next best thing; the outdoor WC block! imagine sipping a spicy margarita and basking (yes, basking, we ordered another great summer) in the sunshine… one will need an outdoor ablution nearby!!! and just like that, with the help of Jack Walker, Grant, Ross and Fraser Morrison we managed to place the 530kg unit where it needed to go at the bottom of the yard. This involved dismantling two fences, taking apart some bits off the forklift.. a spectacular 8 point turn by Jack in the drive and some super monkey- found strength from the men to get it in to place. See below for a little yard update…
soon, once the weather has warmed we will be ready to level the land and pour the smooth resin top coat to meet the beautifully laid stonework. Watch this space!
February and March 2026 Update
The Vennel, (where you will enter the courtyard) is continuing to take shape. Especially now that better weather has made an appearance. - Well until yesterday’s storm ! The Groundworks are near completion. We will patiently await laying the smooth top coat until all heavy work has been carried out for the interior. This will be laid to then link to the paving to the entrance so that we are seamlessly joined and wheel friendly. hoorah!
There’s always a focus on the aesthetics, a consideration for mixing materials, and repurposing materials to create a natural and soft look, we have been busy strapping around the exterior toilet block and framing the gate inside the vennel to match. Planting will take place once the last frost has been and gone- soon, we hope!
Our imported pizza oven arrived and we have wasted no time in perfecting our 10” pizzas . Light and airy through the crust, structure on the base, not too floppy, but with enough form to hold its toppings and yet not heavy!
We are not Italian, but we love pizza! and Pizza is a universal love affair, so why the heck not.
We will start to assemble the rest of the menu, with a focus on fresh, in- season produce, salads and sides, with our inspiration coming from all corners of the globe. We will share pictures of these as and when… and if you’re local, you can maybe expect a little surprise pizza slice delivered to you, in exchange for feedback :-)
Now, work has started on our accessible washroom, fitting the cafe and our prep kitchen… more soon <3
